‘Prof’ as he is fondly called is the Founder and Principal Partner of the firm. He is one of the foremost Senior Lawyers in Nigeria with over 50 years’ experience of legal practice in Nigeria. He was appointed Senior Advocate of Nigeria on the 25th of January 1978 and is currently the oldest surviving Senior Advocate of Nigeria in active legal practice. He was admitted to the Nigerian bar in 1964 and in the same year joined the Faculty of Law, University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) as one of its pioneer law lecturers. In 1971, he joined the University of Lagos as a Senior Lecturer and was later given his chair as a Professor of Law. He served as Dean of the faculty from 1973 – 1975. In 1975 he was appointed as the Attorney-General of Lagos State, a position he held for three years.
Prof has appeared as lead advocate in a plethora of landmark cases which have shaped the course of the legal landscape in Nigeria. He has also appeared as advocate before arbitration panels both domestically and internationally and is himself an arbitrator. Among his experiences in arbitral practice, Professor Kasunmu was the Arbitrator in the arbitration that culminated in the leading case law on misconduct of arbitrators in Nigeria – Taylor Woodrow (Nig.) Ltd vs. S. E. GMBH. Till date, he continues to give expert opinions on Nigerian Law before foreign courts and arbitral panels. He is also a Notary Public of Nigeria.
